Dental Crowns in Omaha and La Vista, NE

Restoring Damaged Teeth

When a tooth is severely damaged or decayed, a filling may not be sufficient to correct the problem and protect the tooth from additional damage. In these situations, a dental crown is often the best solution. We offer same-day crowns using the CEREC Crown Procedure in Omaha for beautiful, custom results in just one day.

What is a dental crown?

Dental crowns are tooth-shaped caps we place on damaged or decayed teeth to restore their shape, size, strength, and appearance. Traditionally, crowns have been made from materials like porcelain, ceramic, metal, or resin. At Bel Drive Dental, our crowns are custom-designed and fabricated in our office from medical-grade ceramics to match your teeth’s natural color and contour. They offer a long-lasting solution for preserving the function and aesthetics of damaged teeth.

When do you need a dental crown?

Drs. Nielson and Krajicek evaluate patients individually to determine the right approach to restoring a damaged tooth. There are several situations when a dental crown is the best option for repairing a tooth and preserving oral health, including:

  • Severe Tooth Decay that cannot be fixed with a filling.
  • Broken or Cracked Teeth that need protection against further damage.
  • Following a Root Canal, when the tooth needs to be sealed shut to prevent any returning infection.
  • Dental Implants are often completed with individual crowns to replace the visible portion of missing teeth.
  • Cosmetic Crowns can improve the look of teeth that are discolored or misshapen.

Our Dental Crown Procedure

Bel Drive Dental now offers same-day crowns using the CEREC procedure, an advanced technology that allows us to design, create, and place your custom crown in a single visit. This saves you time and money while beautifully restoring your tooth.

After examining the damaged tooth, either Dr. Nielson or Dr. Krajicek will thoroughly clean and disinfect the tooth, removing any decayed or damaged tissue. A digital impression is then taken of the remaining tooth structure. We coat the tooth with a tasteless, non-toxic powder and use an intraoral camera to take multiple images of the area quickly. This eliminates the need for the traditional, unpleasant “goop” used to take impressions. The digital impressions are combined with our CEREC software and dental expertise to design a custom dental crown that perfectly matches your remaining teeth. This design is then sent to our CEREC milling machine, which carves a tooth-colored, all-ceramic dental crown in less than 20 minutes. We then polish and refine the crown and cement it into place. When you leave our office, your permanent crown is in place and there is no need for a return visit or a temporary crown.

Benefits of Dental Crowns for Restoring Your Smile

Dental crowns offer several benefits for patients with damaged, decayed, or misshapen teeth, including:

  • Protection: Weak or damaged teeth are protected against future damage.
  • Durability: Crowns can last 10-20 years or longer.
  • Aesthetics: CEREC custom crowns look like your natural teeth.
  • Comfort: A crown feels like a natural tooth and restores your ability to eat comfortably.

How Long Do Dental Crowns Last?

Dental crowns can last anywhere from 10 to 20 years or even longer with proper care. The lifespan of your crown depends on several factors, including oral hygiene, dietary habits, and regular dental checkups. Avoiding hard or sticky foods and maintaining a routine of brushing and flossing can help extend the life of your crown.

What Is the Cost of Dental Crowns in Omaha?

The cost of dental crowns in Omaha varies depending on the material used and the case’s complexity. Dental insurance often covers part of the cost, especially if the crown is deemed medically necessary due to damage or decay. At Bel Drive Dental, we strive to keep the cost of dental crowns reasonable without compromising quality. If you need a dental crown, a visit to our Omaha dentist’s office is essential so that we can examine the damaged tooth and give you an accurate estimate.

At Bel Drive Dental, we understand that affordability is a concern for many patients. That’s why we offer a dental savings plan and accept CareCredit, ensuring that our patients can afford the treatment they need without financial stress.
