Same-Day Crowns FAQ
What to Know Before Getting Same-Day Crowns in Omaha NE
Same-day crowns save you time and give you beautiful, restored teeth without waiting days or weeks. It’s natural to have questions about this innovative solution for damaged or missing teeth, so we’ve answered the most frequently asked questions about same-day dental crowns here.
What are same-day crowns, and how do they differ from traditional crowns?
Same-day crowns are dental crowns we design, fabricate, and place in a single appointment. It usually takes just a few hours because we custom craft your crown in our office rather than having to send an impression to an outside lab. Instead, we use advanced dental technology, including computer-aided design (CAD) and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM), using an in-house milling machine to mill your dental crown precisely.
Who is a suitable candidate for same-day crowns?
If you are in good health with sufficiently healthy remaining tooth structure but need a crown to restore a damaged or decayed tooth, you are a candidate for a same-day crown.
What are the benefits of choosing same-day crowns over traditional crowns?
There are several advantages to same-day dental crowns, including efficiency. Traditional crowns usually require multiple visits over several weeks, while same-day crowns are completed in a single appointment. The convenience of same-day crowns eliminates the need for temporary crowns and the inconvenience of multiple dental visits. The CAD/CAM technology and milling machine we use to create your crown ensures an accurate and precise fit every time.

What materials are used for same-day crowns, and are they durable?
We use high-quality, biocompatible ceramics to craft your same-day crowns. The crowns are sculpted in our CEREC® milling machine and are extremely durable and natural-looking. The strength of ceramic crowns rivals and surpasses the durability of more traditional materials.
Do same-day crowns look natural and match the surrounding teeth?
Yes. We choose a ceramic block matching your tooth’s color and place it into our CEREC® milling machine. CEREC® then sculpts the crown utilizing the information from our CAD/CAM software to create a crown that looks and feels natural. No other type of crown more closely resembles your natural teeth.
How much do same-day crowns cost?
While costs vary, same-day crowns typically do not cost more than traditional crowns because fewer appointments are required. For more information or to schedule a consultation with Bel Drive Dental in Omaha, call our office at Bel Drive Dental Office Phone Number (402) 523-2705.

What is the success rate of same-day crowns?
Same-day crowns have a success rate of 94% after five years, comparable to the success rate of other types of crowns. Most patients still have their same-day crowns ten years later.
Are there any risks to getting same-day crowns?
As with any procedure, there is a risk of complications, but this is minimal. Same-day crowns are made of ceramic, which may show wear and tear sooner than gold or porcelain crowns.
Can same-day crowns be used to replace old or damaged crowns?
An old damaged crown can be replaced with a same-day crown if there is sufficient remaining tooth structure to support it. To find out if you’re a candidate for same-day crowns, call our Omaha office at Bel Drive Dental Office Phone Number (402) 523-2705 to schedule a consultation.
What technology does Bel Drive Dental use to create same-day crowns?
Creating same-day crowns involves several steps, all taking place in a single day using advanced technology for precision results. The first step is to make an impression of the area. Rather than using traditional dental putty, which causes many people to feel like they are suffocating or can trigger a gag reflex, Dr. Nielsen and Dr. Krajicek use a digital scanner to create accurate, 3D images of the tooth or teeth needing restoration.
Using CAD software, we create a 3D model of the restoration to design the crown based on your needs and the shape and contours of the surrounding teeth and gums. Once the design is complete, the data is sent to our milling machine. This machine carves the crown out of a solid block of ceramic. Milling may take anywhere from 15 minutes to a few hours, depending on the complexity of the crown. After milling, we smooth any rough edges and polish the crown to give it a natural, tooth-like appearance. The crown is now ready for immediate placement.
